DESIGN 107 viewed from above.

This design is made in a square shallow basket, made of seagrass. It is lined with plastic to make it waterproof, and floral foam has been used for the mechanics. The floral foam is around " higher than the rim of the basket. I have pinned some stems of Equisetum hyemalis (Snake Grass) around the edge of the floral foam, as a design feature, and to hide the foam. I have arranged the flowers and foliage in blocks of colour, each type being arranged close together, with no floral foam showing. This creates a tapestry-like design, which is very effective when viewed from above, such as on a coffee table. The flowers used were orange Roses, red Tulips, red standard Carnations, deep red standard Carnations, and these were interspersed with blocks of Buxus sempervirens (Box). The picture shows the design viewed from above.
